1955 years ago, on the 9th of Av, the Romans occupied Jerusalem and destroyed our holy Beit Hamikdash.

Each year on 9 Av, we remember the loss, the tragedy and the pain. And more importantly, we remind ourselves of the hope for the future.

The belief that one day soon, we will all return to Jerusalem, reunited with our home. The belief of a time where the world is at peace, a world in which the light and love of G-d and spirituality is felt by all.

Join us in reading Megillah Eicha, as we recount the story of Jerusalem and the Temple’s destruction and pray for it to return to us again.

Every community needs an anchor point, a place where folks can gather, relax, build and grow. Centrally located in the heart of Downtown, The Shul Downtown–CYP’s building–is revolutionizing Jewish life in the area, serving as a communal and spiritual home for young Jews in Raleigh.

The Heart

Shul is community; it’s the laughter, the business deals, the heart-to-heart conversations, the recipe swaps and the budding friendships. It’s where we nurture our spirituality and embrace the holiness within the mundane. It’s where we come to find a connection with something higher.

The Soul

CYP Raleigh is the only established Jewish presence downtown, serving as a welcoming home for Raleigh’s Jews. We’re building a community one Shabbat dinner, one class, one celebration at a time. Here, everyone can find a sense of belonging and tap into their Jewish identity.

Shul is where we nurture our spirituality and embrace the holiness within the mundane. It’s where we go to find a connection with something higher. Join us for our bimonthly services every second and fourth Shabbat of the month—hefty kiddush + cholent included.
